Terms and conditions

1. About Sceido
Who we are.
Sceido is headquartered in France and is affiliated with the Mori Virtual Value company, SIRET 901 863 993 00019.

What we do.
We are a marketplace, a brokerage platform between individuals for the sale of new and used perfumes.

The Marketplace is a site that connects nonprofessional buyers acting for noncommercial purposes (the “Customers”) and nonprofessional sellers (the “Sellers”) to enable the latter to offer new, second-hand, or discontinued perfumes for sale (the “Products”).

Nature of the Sceido platform. Sceido is an intermediary platform providing the following Services:
– Hosting, where we act as intermediaries between Buyers and Sellers but do not buy or sell the items listed in the catalog and are not a party to any Transaction.
– Provision of secure shipping and transaction payment services.
– Intermediation and protection service, applied as a fee on every Transaction; this ensures secure payments and allows for a refund—with the assistance of our customer support team—if the item is lost, damaged, or does not match the description.
– Other optional services for our Buyers and Sellers, described below.

The platform is reserved exclusively for occasional buying and selling between private users.
It is prohibited to use the platform to conduct professional or commercial sales activities.

We are responsible for the Services we provide, within the limits of applicable laws and our commitments and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in these Terms and Conditions.
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale describe the terms and conditions for the distance sale of goods and services through the Marketplace. The Terms and Conditions define the obligations and rights of both parties in this regard.

Sceido’s Role. Sceido operates exclusively as a digital intermediary platform between private users.
Sceido does not act as the manufacturer, merchant, distributor, importer, or packager of the products listed.

Our Users. Our user:
– is a private individual, not a company;
– is at least 18 years old;
– holds an account on the Sceido website;
– uses our Services solely for personal purposes and not for professional purposes;
– has the capacity and rights to carry out transactions on the Site;
– accepts these Terms and the Catalog Rules.

User’s choice to buy and sell. The User can be:

  • a Seller, who offers perfumes for sale (one Item per listing) in an electronic catalogue on our Site (the Catalogue) and/or
  • a Buyer, who can view, search and purchase an Item(s) in the Catalog by selecting the purchase button, providing their payment information and clicking on the “Pay” button (a Transaction).

2. About these Terms and Conditions

How we will present the information. To provide our Users with the best possible experience, we may rearrange the Catalog, advertising space, or other information on the Site. Such changes will not affect the Content you provide or our obligations under these Terms and Conditions.

4. Use of information and personal data
How we use personal data. We will process users’ personal data to fulfill our obligations and exercise our rights under these Terms and Conditions and to provide our Services. You can read our Privacy Policy for more information on how we collect, store, use, and protect personal data.
We work hard to protect users’ personal data, but even the most effective security measures cannot always prevent cyber attacks and ensure that unauthorized third parties do not find a way to access personal data. Therefore, we encourage you to consider what personal data or other information you provide, while still keeping in mind total non-security and privacy.

How we may use Content. Content includes any content (including, but not limited to, photographs of ads, videos, descriptions) that you upload, submit or provide when using our Services.
By uploading Content, you grant us at Sceido a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free (i.e., no payment by us to you), permanent (or for the duration of the applicable rights), transferable and sublicensable license to use your Content. This license allows us to: (i) use, reproduce, process, analyze, translate, copy, display, modify, and create derivative works from the Content; (ii) adapt the Content for various purposes, including operational, commercial, marketing and promotional purposes, and for the development and improvement of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning models, algorithms to improve our Services and products; (iii) display the Content on various platforms and digital media (known or unknown), e.g. in banners and articles, on other websites and social networks such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram.

Discontinuing Use for Marketing Purposes. You may choose to stop viewing your Content for marketing campaigns at any time by changing this option in your Account settings.

5. Posting Rules
1) Only one listing may be created for each fragrance you intend to sell.
2) Fragrance/perfume listings must contain multiple clear and sharp photos (no collages), including details of the packaging if possible, with the batch and box visible. If the box is not present, please specify.
3) The brand, fragrance name, and size (in ml) must be included.
4) The item description must be as detailed and truthful as possible. It must specify whether the item is new and unopened or used. It is important that the seller clearly provides information about the condition, any tampering, product integrity, opening date, remaining quantity, and authenticity (to avoid counterfeiting). If the fragrance has already been opened and used, please specify how much and attach an image that clearly shows the level of fragrance still present. Counterfeit and fake products are not allowed on Sceido.

6. Catalog rules: what can be sold on Sceido.
– Only new and used personal fragrances may be sold on Sceido.
– Dupes, replicas, copies, or counterfeits cannot be sold on our platform.
– Packaging for products listed as new must be intact, unopened, and undamaged.
– For used products, the maximum usage limit is 80% for designer, niche, or miniature-sized products.
Sceido may assign products approved for the Catalog to the following categories, based on the characteristics provided in the listing description:

PRODUCT TYPE:
– Bottle
– Mini size
– Set

CONDITION:
– New
– Used

COLLECTION:
– Designer
– Niche
– Vintage
– Discovery
– Highlight

The “Discovery” collection category includes mini formats, travel sizes, and decants.

Guidelines for selling decants. A “decant” is defined as a quantity of original perfume transferred by the seller from an original bottle into a secondary container (atomizer), intended solely for occasional sales between private users.
A decant is not a product packaged by the original manufacturer and is sold without the brand’s original packaging.
Only the following sizes are currently permitted for decants: 2ml, 5ml, and 10ml. Only one active listing per authorized size is allowed for each fragrance.
Listings for the following are not permitted:
– decant boxes;
– mystery boxes;
– custom sets;
– lots of decants;
– multiple sales of the same decant in a single listing.
Each listing must refer to a single fragrance.

Every listing for this type of product must include at least:
– brand;
– full name of the fragrance;
– concentration (EDT, EDP, Parfum, Extrait, Cologne, etc.);
– quantity sold (2ml, 5ml, or 10ml);
– an indication that the product is a decant.

The ad must include actual photographs of the product. The following must be clearly visible:
– the original perfume bottle used;
– the decant for sale;
– the liquid level in the original bottle;
– the batch code, if present.
Promotional photos or images sourced from the web are not permitted as the main image.

Seller’s Responsibility. The seller is solely responsible for:
– the authenticity of the product;
– the provenance of the perfume;
– the quality of the perfume;
– the storage procedure;
– the decanting process;
– the packaging;
– the published information;
– the declared quantity;
– the shipping packaging.

Buyer Acceptance. By purchasing a product of this type, the buyer acknowledges that:
– the purchased product is a decant and not an original bottle packaged by the manufacturer;
– the fragrance has been transferred by the seller into a secondary container;
– Sceido acts exclusively as an intermediary platform between private users.

For this category as well, Sceido reserves the right, as a precautionary measure, to suspend a listing for verification following reports, and to limit, suspend, or remove listings and/or accounts that include or exhibit non-compliant characteristics as listed on this page.

    7. Selling a Perfume on Sceido
    What you can sell. The Item you want to sell must comply with the Catalog Rules mentioned above.

    List an Item for Sale. To list a Perfume for sale on Sceido, you’ll need to take and upload multiple clear, accurate photos and write a description of the item that accurately reflects its quality and appearance (including any defects or alterations). It may be helpful to read Tips and Recommendations to understand how to post a clear and attractive listing for sale. Once the Item has been inserted into the Catalog and published on Sceido, it means that the user has officially submitted a sales offer that can be accepted by a Buyer.

    Buyer’s Choice. The Item is sold after a Buyer purchases it by clicking on the purchase button and his/her payment is accepted.

    Balance upon sale. For each transaction, upon confirmation of the order received without any complaints (after 3 days from receipt), the amount sold will be paid to the seller, less the following:

    • shipping charges
    • Brokerage Services Commission (see how we calculate it here).

    Withdrawal of Ad. You may withdraw an ad at any time before a Buyer purchases the Item. You can manage your listings on your Seller Dashboard in your account.

    Information about ad placement and recommendations. We use automated tools to evaluate and manage ad placement and recommend relevant content to Users browsing our Site. Based on the characteristics of the perfume entered, we may categorize the product into one of the categories provided on Sceido and allow better selection through filters. The categories are: new, trend, niche, vintage, mini format.

    8. Sceido Ad Review Service
    Listings must comply with the terms of sale and undergo a verification process by Sceido prior to publication. Sceido conducts a pre-publication review to ensure that the submitted listing contains consistent images and information that align with the terms of sale and catalog guidelines. In particular, Sceido verifies that the products for sale match the images included in the listing and that usage limits for used products are respected.
    Verification is based solely on the images and information uploaded by the user. In case there are uncertain aspects, Sceido reserves the right to ask for more images from the user and in case advises the user to specify certain aspects in the ad.
    Within 24 hours of placing the ad, Sceido will send a notification via email and a notification in the user’s profile on the site confirming the publication or deletion of the ad.
    Any checks carried out by Sceido are solely for the purpose of platform moderation. Such checks do not constitute certification of the product’s authenticity, quality, safety, or conformity.
    The verification is considered partial, as it is based solely on content submitted by the user rather than a direct analysis of the physical product. Consequently, Sceido accepts no liability for products that, upon delivery, fail to comply with catalog guidelines or the description provided in the listing; however, it offers support services for claims and returns in such cases.

    9. Limitations of liability
    Sceido does not guarantee upfront:

    • the authenticity of the product;
    • the quality of the content;
    • product conformity;
    • storage carried out by the seller.

    All liability regarding the product remains solely with the seller.

    10. Purchases
    How to purchase an Item. To purchase an Item from the Catalog, you must:

    • Click on the purchase button,
    • select a payment method and delivery option, and
    • Click on the payment button on the payment page.

    How much to pay. For each transaction, the buyer will pay the following fees, which will be held in the Escrow Account: Item price + shipping costs + Brokerage Fee (click here to see how we calculate it).

    What happens next? Once the item has been purchased, the seller must ship the package. Upon shipment, Sceido will send a tracking link to the buyer to track the shipment.

    11.
    How to pay on our Site. Our goal is to make paying for Items or purchasing our Services as easy as possible. You can make a payment using:

    • credit or debit card or
    • Google Pay, Paypal, Apple Pay
    • Another payment method that we may introduce on our Site.

    Payment Processing. We use authorized third-party payment service providers (Payment Service Providers) to:
    – process online payments for the purchase of Items or optional Services on our Site
    – hold payments until the transaction is completed (Escrow)
    – process Transfers

    In addition, we use third-party vendors to store payment method data. We will provide assistance with payments with our Payment Service Managers, but we do not handle payments directly.

    Secure Storage of Money. If you purchase an Item, the entire amount paid is placed in a separate Escrow Account, controlled by a Vendor until the Transaction is completed. At that point, the price of the Item and any shipping charges will be paid to the Vendor’s balance and the commission paid for Purchase Protection will be paid to Sceido.

    Security. It is important to check that your payment information is correct so that payments made on our Site are secure. Failure to do so may result in your payment being cancelled or you may have to prove that the payment method is the one you selected or that you authorized the payment, should the automated software systems detect any anomalies.

    12. Shipping
    What is prepaid shipping? Sceido organizes and provides prepaid shipping service for every transaction. The carriers available depend on the European region where the package is shipped. Each seller downloads a prepaid shipping label for each confirmed transaction. You must use the label provided by the Site to send and/or return an item within 5 business days of purchase (unless otherwise agreed or communicated); otherwise, the Transaction will be automatically cancelled or completed (in the case of returning the item).

    How much does shipping cost? Prepaid shipping costs vary depending on the distance and the country of dispatch and receipt. The shipping cost will be visible among the various cost items in the cost items that are added to the total cost of the transaction, summarized before payment.

    Package Tracking and Carriers. You can track the shipment status of your item on the Site using the information provided by the carrier. To the extent permitted by law, Sceido declines all responsibility for inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated tracking information provided by the carrier. Delivery times depend on the carrier used. Partner carriers will deliver your item. Sceido is not a carrier or postal service provider and does not physically handle, sort, or deliver an Item purchased on the Site during the delivery process.

    Responsibilities. With Prepaid Shipping, the Seller must comply with Sceido’s Packaging Rules and Prohibited Items Policy, which can be found here. The package and the product’s internal packaging must be such as to ensure that the product is not damaged during shipping. If there is evidence that you have not complied with these rules, the Terms and Conditions, or the Catalog Rules, you may not be entitled to a refund or compensation if your package is lost or damaged in transit.

    If a package is lost or damaged. In the event of a dispute regarding the loss or damage of an Item in transit, the information provided by Sceido or the carrier will be deemed accurate unless you provide us with evidence to the contrary before the Transaction is completed. If an Item has been packed properly but the package is lost or damaged in transit:

    • the Buyer may receive a refund for the damaged Item in accordance with our Refund Policy (covered by Purchase Protection); and
    • the Seller may receive compensation for loss or damage on Sceido, the amount of which may depend on the carrier used, covered by Purchase Protection (consult the Help Center for details).

    13. Leaving reviews
    Upon completion of a Transaction, the User may choose to write and publish a review on our Site regarding the transaction, the product received, and the other User. All published reviews must be accurate and honest. Please note that no reward is given for leaving a review, and we do not screen or verify reviews before they are published on our Site; however, we do review them after publication and will remove any that contain offensive language, insults, threats, etc.

    14. Order Cancellation
    Once payment has been made and the listing is marked as sold, the order cannot be cancelled by either the seller or the buyer, except in cases of force majeure or the exercise of the right of withdrawal.

    15. Contact and support
    To report problems. If you find that another User has done something illegal, infringed on someone else’s rights, or violated these Terms and Conditions, you may notify us by filling out the customer service form if the report specifically concerns illegal Items (e.g., Fake Items, copies, etc.).
    We will do what we can to help the affected party.

    To initiate a dispute with us. We hope you have a positive experience using our Services, but if you have any problems with us, please let us know by filling out our customer service form so we can resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

    For further questions. For any questions or comments, please contact us by email at: contact@sceidoperfume.com

    16. Purchase Protection and Brokerage Service
    Purchase Protection provides a refund policy if an item is lost, damaged, or not as described. Customer Service will provide assistance with this process and will follow our Refund Policy. Payment will be held in escrow until the transaction is marked as complete.
    Purchase Protection is not an insurance or legal protection service and does not replace, but is in addition to, any other legal rights or guarantees you have. Purchase Protection is applied compulsorily upon payment and for each purchase made through the purchase button.

    Refund Policy. You can request a refund for an Item if:

    • Is confirmed as lost or damaged during shipment;
    • it is significantly different from the description, i.e. there is a significant difference between the item received and its description or photo in the catalogue, for example it has different dimensions, different colour or has serious damage (such as stains, unmentioned damage) or is missing from the purchased set or
    • is an Item very different from the description because it is counterfeit.

    Please note: For vintage and previously used fragrances, the fragrance’s odor and consistency may have altered due to time and storage conditions.
    Unless specifically specified by the seller, Sceido cannot verify this directly. By purchasing, the buyer assumes responsibility for receiving a product with a possible odor alteration compared to its original condition. Returns and refunds are not available in this case.

    If there are any problems with the item, you must report the problem by contacting us using the form on the Help Center page within 3 calendar days of receiving notification that the item has been delivered or is lost (the Refund Request Period). This will place the transaction on hold and the amount will continue to be held in Escrow until the issue is resolved. If the buyer does not report the problem within the Refund Request Period (3 days), the Transaction will automatically be marked as completed.

    –> Handling an Item Significantly Different from the Description (except Items Significantly Different from the Description Because They Are Counterfeit). If you claim that the Item is significantly different from the description within the Refund Request Period (3 days), the buyer can report it using the Help Center form, specifying the specific issues encountered and attaching photos showing the issues. We will then inform the Seller of the complaint, and our Customer Service team will analyze the complaint and the highlighted order issues. If Customer Service deems the buyer’s complaint accepted, we will refund the buyer’s payment (minus Purchase Protection) and offer the seller two options:

    • Either do not ask the buyer to return the item or
    • Request the return of your item within 3 business days (unless otherwise agreed or communicated) of the transaction cancellation notification. Sceido can arrange a new return shipment upon payment of shipping and transaction fees by the seller, who will be notified by email. Once the package is returned to the seller, the buyer will receive a refund.

    –> Handling an Item Significantly Different from the Description Because It Is Counterfeit. If you report an Item significantly different from the description because it is counterfeit within the Refund Request Period (3 days), we will investigate the issue and contact both the Buyer and the Seller to obtain more information from both parties in order to make an objective decision.

    • If the authenticity of the Item is not questioned, we will complete the Transaction and transfer the money in Escrow to Seller, less the Purchase Protection Fee that will be paid to us.
    • If we don’t have enough information to determine whether the item is significantly different from the description because it is counterfeit, we will consider the case ambiguous and ask the buyer whether they wish to confirm the purchase. If they refuse to confirm, we will cancel the transaction, refund the buyer (minus fees), and ask them to return the item to the seller. Sceido can arrange a new return shipment upon payment of the shipping and transaction fees by the buyer. In this case, shipping costs will be deducted from the refund.
    • If there is clear evidence that the item is counterfeit, we will send an email to the seller. The seller has 24 hours to provide us with proof of the item’s authenticity. If they are unwilling or unable to do so, we will cancel the transaction and the buyer must return the item to the seller for a refund. In this case, the return shipping is paid by the seller. Sceido can arrange a new return shipment upon payment of shipping and transaction fees by the seller, who will be notified by email. Once the package is returned to the seller, the buyer will receive a refund (minus fees).

    If a problem is reported to us. We will review the case and may ask Buyer and Seller to provide us with information and evidence to decide objectively whether the case is eligible for a refund. Buyer and Seller agree to respect the final decision.

    Reasons why you may not receive a refund. You will NOT receive a refund if:

    • reports a problem indicating that an Item is very different from the description but Verification shows that it is not;
    • Reports alterations in odor and consistency for vintage and previously used fragrances. Unless specified directly by the seller, Sceido cannot directly verify these conditions. By purchasing, the buyer assumes responsibility for receiving a product with possible alterations in odor from its original condition.
    • has already confirmed that there were no problems when he received the Article;
    • did not report the problem to us within the Claim Period (3 days after receiving the package);
    • failed to provide Customer Service with proof that an Item is damaged or very different from the description within the time limit;
    • Used, opened or modified the Item in any way before returning it or
    • is under investigation on suspicion of misusing or abusing the Purchase Protection service.

    17. Obligations and prohibitions

    • Use any external software tools that may disrupt the normal operation of the Site or Services or infect or damage another User’s computer;

    In the event that Sceido receives notifications, formal notices, or requests from competent authorities, trademark holders, manufacturers, or other authorized parties, it may immediately remove the listing and take any further measures deemed necessary.

    21. Issue management
    Taking Corrective Action. If Sceido detects that you are taking an action that is contrary to the rules described in these Terms and Conditions or patently illegal, we may apply one of the following corrective measures:

    • Send a warning message about the need to abide by these Terms and Conditions;

    • Information on the use of automated means to make our decision.

    22. Seller status and tax obligations
    Sceido is a platform dedicated to the buying and selling of perfumes between private individuals (C2C). The occasional sale of new and used personal items does not, as a rule, constitute a commercial activity. It is understood that each selling User is solely responsible for the correct tax, fiscal, and social security classification of their activity: should sales become habitual and continuous, with the sole aim of making a profit, the User is required to independently obtain the status and registrations mandated by the applicable laws in their country of residence (for example, the *auto-entrepreneur* regime in France or registering for a VAT number in Italy) and to fulfill the associated reporting and contribution obligations. Sceido does not provide tax advice and is in no way responsible for the obligations incumbent upon the User.

    23. Data collection and reporting (DAC7 Directive)
    As a platform operator, Sceido is subject to the obligations set forth in Directive (EU) 2021/514 (DAC7). The Seller acknowledges and agrees that Sceido shall collect the necessary identification and transactional data and report it to the competent tax authorities if, during a calendar year, the User exceeds the statutory thresholds (more than 30 transactions or €2,000 in gross revenue on the platform). To this end, the User undertakes to provide complete, accurate, and up-to-date data—including their tax identification number (tax code / NIF)—and to promptly communicate any changes thereto. The transmission of data pursuant to DAC7 does not in itself imply any tax liability, which remains determined by the nature of the activity and the User’s personal circumstances.

    24. Termination of the relationship
    You may decide to end our relationship. You may terminate your relationship with Sceido and stop using our Services at any time, free of charge, by deleting your Account or by sending us an email at these addresses:

    Or we may do so. We also may terminate these Terms and Conditions at any time and for any reason by giving you 15 days’ written notice.

    What happens next. These Terms and Conditions apply until the completion of the Transactions and Transfers in progress.

    25. Applicable law
    These Terms and Conditions are governed by the national laws of the country where the user lives (habitual residence).
    Here you can find legal references regarding Sceido’s operations, broken down by European country.

    26. Modifications and Assignment of Terms
    Updates to these Terms and Conditions. We may need to update these Terms and Conditions in the future. Depending on the type of change, we will notify users via email.
    Any changes will not apply retroactively and will not affect any Transactions already completed on the Site.

    If you do not agree with any changes to these Terms and Conditions, you may terminate our relationship at no additional cost after the completion of all pending Transactions.

    Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions to another organization by providing 30 days’ notice. If you do not agree, you may immediately terminate these Terms and Conditions by closing your Account. You may not transfer your rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions to another person.

    Severability. In the event that any section contained in these Terms and Conditions is held invalid by a court or competent authority, the remaining sections shall remain in full force and effect.
